Greek Burgers & Fries

This meal has recently become a favorite in my family. The burger is juicy and flavorful. And the greek salad and fries are the perfect compliment to make a balanced meal - loaded with clean protein, healthy fats, and whole food carbohydrates

Ingredients

  • 1 lb grass fed ground beef
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion
  • 1 stalk green onion
  • 1/2 tbsp oregano
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • ground pepper

Greek Fries

  • 4-5 yellow potatoes
  • 3 tbsp olive or avocado oil
  • 2-3 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • ground pepper

Instructions

  • Chop the red and green onion finely. Add the onion to a large bowl, along with the ground beef, garlic and spices. Mix well with your hands and form into patties.
  • Preheat a cast iron or stainless steel pan on the stovetop over high heat. Once the pan is hot, place burger patties onto the pan on the stovetop and sear on both sides. Then lower the heat and cook until until the internal temperature reaches at least 145F. Alternatively these burgers can be cooked on the grill.

Greek Fries

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F
  • Chop the potatoes into wedges. Add to a bowl and top with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper
  • Place in a single layer on a baking sheet and roast for 30 minutes or until slightly crispy on both sides. Flip halfway through baking.
  • Serve burgers on top of red leaf lettuce, arugula, or a bun. Then top with fresh tzatziki, red onion, tomato, avocado, and feta cheese. Serve alongside the greek fries and olives.

Tzatziki

  • Make the Fresh tzatziki (either dairy or dairy free) with the link I shared previously in this blog post. Or you can search for "Tzatziki" in the search bar to find my recipe. You can also purchase pre-made tzatziki at many stores. But in my opinion, homemade tzatziki tastes way better and is most often the healthier option.
