  • Pour your carrier oil of choice over the plant material until it is completely covered, leaving about one inch of space at the top of the jar. Use a clean utensil to gently press down the flower petals and release any trapped air bubbles. Make sure all plant material is fully submerged in the oil.

  • Seal the jar and then place it in a warm spot such as a kitchen window while avoiding direct sunlight. Allow the calendula oil infusion to sit for a couple of weeks or up to six weeks, gently shaking the jar every few days to keep the herbs coated and evenly infused.
  • After the infusion process is complete, for the folk method, Alplace a paper coffee filter or cheesecloth in a strainer set over a clean bowl or measuring cup. Slowly pour the infused calendula oil through the filter, allowing it to fully strain. This may take some time depending on the thickness of the oil and plant material.
Alternatively you can make the calendula oil quick using an instant pot or crockpot. Refer to the heat infusion method in the blog post
