Johanna Tropiano is a passionate advocate and powerful voice for justice related human rights issues. Her areas of focus are domestic violence, criminal justice reform, and human trafficking. She is a survivor of both sexual abuse and domestic violence, and as a result Johanna is a passionate advocate for those whose voice won’t be heard. On this episode Johanna opens up and shares her powerful “Me too” story of how she survived both sexual and domestic abuse. She speaks to what inspired her to devote her entire life to fighting injustice. And also shares about the book she recently finished, which is a riveting memoir that dives more deeply into her story and seeks to provide healing for her readers. She speaks to the power of letting go of shame and stepping into your calling, as well as how to navigate the fear of rejection.

Near the end of this interview we also dive into a discussion on ethical and conscious fashion. Johanna shares about her own journey of moving from mass consumerism, to becoming an advocate for conscious and ethical fashion. She explains how our buying habits can directly impact those being trafficked for labor all across the world. And she also provides some tangible tips on how to fight injustice in your own life through transforming your shopping habits.

We all can relate to a longing deep inside of us for something more. And I think that our longing is directly tied to the calling that God has for us.
