This cranberry sauce recipe with orange juice couldn’t be easier, even if it’s your first time making homemade cranberry sauce!

  1. Combine the ingredients. Add the fresh or frozen cranberries, fresh orange juice, and maple syrup to a medium saucepan. Stir to combine.

Tips for the Best Homemade Cranberry Sauce

  • Use fresh orange juice. Fresh-squeezed juice gives this cranberry sauce recipe with orange a brighter, more vibrant flavor than bottled juice.
  • Adjust the sweetness. If you prefer a sweeter sauce, add another tablespoon or two of maple syrup. Cranberries are naturally tart, so taste and adjust as needed.
  • Don’t overcook. Simmer just until the cranberries have popped and the sauce begins to thicken.
  • Let it cool. Cranberries contain natural pectin, which acts as a natural thickener. The sauce will thicken considerably as it cools.
  • Make it ahead. Cranberry sauce tastes even better after the flavors have had time to develop in the refrigerator.
