Immune Boosting Green Mango Smoothie

This immune boosting smoothie has become a go to in our household recently. It is so refreshing, delicious, and is packed with beneficial vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients. Here are some of the benefits of the immune boosting ingredients in this smoothie.

Ginger contains a powerful plant compound known as Gingerol which has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties making it a great food for your immune system.

Lemons are an excellent source of Vitamin C, a natural antioxidant that improves the immune system, as well as flavonoids which possess a number of medicinal benefits, including anticancer, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiviral properties.

Coconut water contains lauric acid and vitamin C, which have antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral effects and can aid in boosting the immune system. In addition, coconut water is loaded with minerals such as potassium and magnesium which can help to replenish lost nutrients.

Mango provides 60% of your daily vitamin C needs in one serving. This vitamin can help your body produce more disease-fighting white blood cells and help these cells work more effectively. Mango is also a good source of folate, several B vitamins, as well as vitamins A, C, K, and E — all of which may help boost immunity.

Broccoli sprouts contain sulforaphane – a potent phytonutrient that has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and helps to activate the immune system against viruses. Broccoli sprouts contain anywhere between 50-100 times more sulphoraphane than broccoli. And so just small amounts of broccoli sprouts in a smoothie can go a long way.

If all you have on hand is celery, lemons, ginger, coconut water and frozen mango or frozen blueberries, that is a great combo as well. Have fun with the ingredients and make it what you want. Enjoy!
